Helen Brandell

Helen Brandell, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, surrounded by her family. She was born July 9, 1933 and was raised in Ironton, Ohio. She married John Brandell of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and traveled the world during his Army career. After his retirement in 1968, they settled in Olympia where she worked at St. Peter's Hospital, The Spar Restaurant, Cattlemans Steakhouse, and The Senior Center.

A viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2008, with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mullen Road SE, Lacey, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Brandell; a sister, Mary Lou; and brothers, Everett, Charles, Floyd and Clifford.

She is survived by her companion of six years, Larry Nations of Darrington; twelve children, Brenda Patnude of Olympia; Theresa Waters of Oregon; John Brandell II of McCall, Idaho; James Brandell of San Diego, California; Helen Ensign of Selah; Katherine Franks of Tumwater; Patrick Brandell of Reseda, California; Michael Brandell of Olympia; Ruth Lee of Spokane; Cheryl Brandell of Stafford, Virginia; George Brandell of Seattle; Brian Brandell of Astoria, New York; four brothers, Vernon Nelson of Ohio, John Nelson of Wyoming, Mark Nelson of ?North Carolina, Glenn Nelson of Ohio; and four sisters, ?Nora Jean Dawson of Florida, Susan Webb of Ohio, Ruth Ann Nelson of Ohio, and Linda Roleau of Michigan.
